In conjunction with local organizations, DFGFI helps support small-scale sustainable economic development activities as well as humanitarian projects in the communities where we work, to help support the social and economic well-being of local people. These include working with widows’ and other women’s groups in job training, supporting local orphanages, and helping the marginalized Ba’Twa peoples.
Our community development programs are designed to help local people work toward economic independence, reducing reliance on irreplaceable natural resources (including endangered species like the gorillas). Some of the projects we are involved in include:
